Arbitral Decision-making

Arbitral Association and University of Union Faculty of Law have organized an arbitration conference on 25 October 2019 on the topic Arbitral Decision-Making.

Key note address was delivered by Prof. Tibor Varady who spoke on the challenges in and criteria for determining impartiality of arbitrators in the 21st century.

Presentations of several law professors from Belgrade, Novi sad and Kragujevac followed, as well as presentations of two practitioners.

The audience was particularly interested in overview of the recent practice of the Serbian Court of Cassation regarding arbitration, as well as in the discussion of potential problems that may arise in enforcement of arbitral awards made on the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, case study analyses of ICSID cases where countries from the region were respondents, as well as topics regarding contemporary issues in arbitration proceedings including document production, confidentiality, efficiency, third party funding, use of IT, gender equality and rights and obligations of arbitrators.
