7th ICC YAF Global Conference

7th ICC YAF Global Conference

Member of our Arbitration Association and the co-chair of the Under 40 Section Mr. Nenad Kovačević (independent attorney in cooperation with CMS Belgrade) had the honor to represent our Association and itsUnder 40 Section at the 7th Global conference organized by the ICC YAF (International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum) that took place at the premises of the renowned King’s College of London in the period of 6-8 June 2019 with more than 100 representatives from around the world.

The event gathered the future generation of inspired law practitioners with idea to share useful insights on the issue of diversity, the issue of the most desirable arbitration seats, the overall development of the practice.

The issue of diversity is very important for the community young lawyers and one of the main conclusions of the conference was that introducing younger and more eager lawyer would be beneficial for the entire arbitration process with main criteria begin merits and the quality of their work instead of their age alone.

On another issue, reaching diversity of the arbitration seats is a process that is still very much active with main arbitration forum still being the unprecedented leaders although there is a trend of developing interesting arbitration forums in Asia and Latin America.

Although, Belgrade cannot still take part in the global battle for the most desirable arbitration seat, Serbian arbitration community must continue its efforts to develop Belgrade (and other Serbian cities)  as desirable regional seat (especially having in mind all the benefits of the arbitration as the alternative dispute resolution mechanism and low costs involved when arbitrating in Serbia).

Arbitration Association will continue its activities and cooperation with ICC YAF that successfully began during Belgrade Pre-Moot in 2018.
